Ms. Tshering is an HNSA Board Member. As a gender consultant, with extensive national, regional, international experience in development she is actively engaged in the area of women’s empowerment with a particular focus on economic and political empowerment. Having been part of Bhutan’s civil services, international organisations and local NGOs, she has traveled extensively through the country and around the world. Hence, she comes with a wide range of exposure and experience working in agriculture, livestock, policy and planning, organisational development, mainstreaming gender, development of women entrepreneurs, gender-based violence and women in governance and politics.

She also serves on the Board of SABAH Bhutan as its Chair. SABAH Bhutan works with home-based, women-workers in the informal sector to enhance their skills, products and trade for the betterment of their lives. In her role as the head of BNEW (Bhutan Network for Empowering Women), a civil society organisation that empowers women in order to mobilise, motivate and facilitate women’s participation in all forums of development and governance, she travels and meets rural women in all nooks and corners of Bhutan.  She is also the Honorary Consul of The Netherlands in Bhutan.
